本教材由英语教师、旅游管理专业教师和旅行社旅游行业人员共同开发、编写。基于前期企业调研分析结果，双方针对涉外旅游专业相关岗位工作能力和典型工作任务进行了商酌和论证，共同制定教材编写框架，选取教材内容，设计编写流程，以保证本教材充分体现以涉外旅游工作岗位工作任务为引领，以涉外旅游工作过程为导向的设计理念，从而凸显本教材的职业性和实践性。

本教材共8 个单元。以涉外导游岗位职责为主线，从行业认知、旅行社前台接待、安排交通、餐饮及住宿、导游、导购、娱乐等不同角度设计单元话题。每单元围绕一个行业知识和职场技能主题交织展开，均由Lead-in, Profession Zoom In, Career Zoom In 和Real-life Practice 四个模块组成。
